How to Determine If the LCD or Inverter Board Is Damaged on a Mac G4 Laptop
As computer equipment gets older, it becomes more prone to breaking down. In the case of Apple G4 Laptops (including PowerBook G4's and iBook G4's), one of the signs of aging is a failing display.When a display no longer works correctly, it can either be the result of a damaged inverter board or LCD (liquid crystal display). Before diagnosing the problem with the laptop's display, make sure that the computer is plugged into the AC adapter and is not running on battery power. If the battery of a PowerBook G4 or iBook G4 is dead, the problem is power-related and not display-related.
Press the "Power" button on the PowerBook G4 or iBook G4 to make sure that the computer is not off or in sleep mode. If the laptop display functions correctly after the computer turns on or comes out of sleep mode, then there is nothing wrong with the LCD or inverter.FM Transmitter(iPhone FM Transmitters )
Check the inverter. If the screen of the PowerBook G4 or iBook G4 is consistently dark but still shows a picture, then the problem is likely with the laptop's inverter. The inverter controls the amount of light displayed on a laptop's LCD, and when it is damaged, the picture can fade and become very dark. Power down. If the screen does not display any picture at all, shut down the laptop down and connect it to an external monitor using a VGA cable and a DVI/VGA adapter. Then turn the external monitor on and start the laptop up. If a picture is displayed on the external monitor, then the LCD of the PowerBook G4 or iBook G4 is the source of the problem and must be replaced or repaired.
